AVANI+ Luang Prabang

  • July 1, 2018

Southeast Asia never fails to captivate travellers’ hearts. The hustle-bustle of tuk-tuks, the ever-busy markets, the hospitable locals, the exquisite local delicacies, all of which remind travellers what made them chose travelling in Southeast Asia in the first place.

I am Southeast Asian, and I love exploring this part of the world. However, it can get tiring and overwhelming at times. Every now and again, I just covet for the comfort that I can have at home.

Fortunately, AVANI Luang Prabang was the answer to all my prayers. It is a home away from home.

My stay with AVANI Luang Prabang

AVANI’s unique French neo-classical architecture impressively sets it as one of the chicest buildings in Luang Prabang. Not only the architecture is aesthetically pleasing, the concept of having a central garden surrounded by the hotel buildings creates a divine stillness. The trees and the design effectively dampen down the cacophony that’s happening in the outside world, leaving an undiscovered tranquility tucked down behind the walls of AVANI.

AVANI+ Luang Prabang is so strategically located at the town centre of Luang Prabang. I think all the tourists in Luang Prabang pass by AVANI at least once per day to get to places. It’s literally steps away from the night market, the Tak Bat alms-giving ceremony, the Royal Palace, and the Mekong River. Besides, you’ll never get hungry if you stay with AVANI. On top of the amazing food that AVANI Bistro Restaurant has to offer, there are so many restaurants around AVANI offering international cuisines! They are literally a stone’s throw away. Try it.

When I was travelling in Luang Prabang in June, it was scorching hot. You know the kind of fatigue that you get when it gets too hot outside? I got that almost all the time when I was in Luang Prabang. I basically got seared by the blazing sun every time I go for a walk around noon. Fortunately, AVANI offers free buggy service. The buggy takes you to wherever you wanna go within the town proper. I don’t wanna say I abused the buggy service but I definitely made full use of it!

What I love most about AVANI Luang Prabang is how hospitable all the staff were. Everyone was all smiling all the time. Everyone greets you when you when they see you. As soon as I arrive at the check-in counter, the staff showed up with a super refreshing drink for me to quench my thirst. I have no idea what magic they put in there but it was crazy good! AVANI Luang Prabang really showed me what’s a true-blue Laotian hospitality.

This is what I meant - you can literally hear nothing from the outside world. It's so serene and green! No edit.

Tak Bat happening at 6am in front of AVANI. The good thing about staying with AVANI is that the receptionist can prepare something for you (complimentary) if you would like to take part in the alms-giving ceremony. And it's literally just outside the hotel!

My room

The check-in process was a smooth one – nothing weird and wonderful was required apart from my passport. After they returned my passport, I was guided to my room.

And that’s when even more magic happen.

My room is simply fantastic. I will let the photos take over my words.

One thing that I love about the room is the complimentary snacks! The fried banana and the cookies were really something (and thank god they refill it for free all the time)! Besides, AVANI Luang Prabang was really sweet to offer me an elephant keychain and they even left a small note with it! It’s all these small little things that made my stay with AVANI Luang Prabang so memorable!

When I entered my room, the AC was already set to 24C, which was perfect as the heat out there was sweltering!
Put my breakfast on there and it'd be breakfast on bed!

Breakfast @ AVANI Luang Prabang

Another highlight of my stay has to be the breakfast. As I enjoy dining alfresco, I woke up at 7am so that it won’t be too hot to dine outside. Let me describe how serene it was – the birds were singing harmoniously, the buttery aroma of the croissants and pain au chocolat was infusing the air, the morning breeze was playing with the branches. Every tinge of stillness was a perfect dose of muscle and mind relaxant for me.

Complimentary massage @ AVANI Spa

To complete my Laotian sojourn, I thought it’d be superb to end it with a complimentary 30-minute massage offered by AVANI Spa. As soon as I stepped into the spa building, I felt like the massage has already started. Like you know the zen kind of music? I felt like it was played with a surround sound system – like it’s so soft but it’s peacefully pervading every single iota of the space. And then I was greeted with another drink. Another fantastic drink infused with Bael fruit.

Before the massage, I was given a questionnaire. It’s basically for the masseurs to know what I would like to achieve after the massage today. It felt like an algorithm and at the same time, very personalised to my need! I needed something to deal with my energy level and my long-term fatigue due to this grueling medical degree. And so they gave me what I asked for.

I felt like I was reincarnated – from the water. The massage was exhilarating I almost slept!

I am happy kid.
Can you feel the zen already?

I tipped the masseur so much because it was really one of the best massages that I have in my life. What they say about "free stuff isn't good" is completely wrong in this case!

Conclusion

My stay with AVANI Luang Prabang was a sensational one. It couldn’t be better. The hotel enjoys a prime location at the heart of Luang Prabang. I genuinely think that AVANI should be your choice of hotel if you are planning for an incredible holiday in Luang Prabang.

I was a guest at AVANI Luang Prabang but all opinions are my own.
